The goal of the Online Writing Center at National University is to help you improve your writing skills--whether you are a beginning student struggling with an idea for a class essay or a graduate student wrestling with complex arguments. We offer 40-minute online and face-to-face consultations about writing and critical thinking.
These consultations take the form of conversations on the topics you'd like to address: for example, developing a thesis statement, developing your ideas, organizing your argument, citing sources, or working on mechanics. Please note, however, that we will not fix your paper for you: we are here to provide you with the tools to improve your own writing. We are not editors, but teachers. Students who visit the Writing Center agree to: Respect the writing consultants and respond to them in a courteous manner in all modes of communication: voice, text, email. Respect the tutorial process. Be receptive to suggestions and strategies for working with the consultant. Take responsibility for their own writing process and for what they turn in to their instructor. Make every effort to cancel appointments that they cannot attend. Students who miss more than two appointments without cancelling them may be prevented from making further appointments.
